Located along Southern California’s iconic Pacific Coast Highway, this coastal dwelling elegantly graces the cliffs overlooking Laguna’s 1000 Step Beach. Due to strict outlines dictated by the Coastal Commission and the timeline complications presented once a hearing is triggered, Plus Design Studio is carefully repositioning the all interior spaces and finishes without altering any exterior elements.

In opening up the plan as much as possible, public spaces spill into one another fostering a communal energy among guests and residents. Moving upward to the private spaces, rooms are treated as private suites blurring the lines between bedroom, bath and closet. This holistic approach to privacy exhibits the brilliance of honed stone surfaces and bespoke millwork that would otherwise be sequestered away from sleeping quarters. This consolidated posturing of the interior spaces when met with the awe-inspiring expansion of the ocean beyond results in a dissolution of beginning or end and a user experience of ineffable plenitude.
